What is TypeLibrary?

Type Library files are compiled header file of IDL. COM interfaces are defined in an IDL or interface definition file. MIDL compiler compiles this file to generate a compiled file called type library with file extension .tlb. Standard programming language and compiler tool can understand type library. For example VC++ compiler can generate a C++ equivalent header file called .tlh and implementation file .tli with #import macro. VB and JAVA also supports this type library.
